Koscom takes active steps to strengthen financial information business
- Joining hands with S&P, Thomson Reuters, and IDC
 
Koscom(CEO Kim, Kwang Hyun), the leading financial information provider in Korea, is drawing attention with its active steps to strengthen financial information business.

Right after the agreement with Standard & Poor's("S&P", Executive Managing Director of Fixed Income Risk Management Services Lou Eccleston)  on May 27 (New York time) on the use of the global credit rating information and extending the cooperation between two parties, Koscom announced that it visited Thomson Reuters(CEO Devin Wenig) and Interactive Data("IDC", CEO Mark Hepsworth) which are main global financial information providers,  and exchanged views on present and future global financial information industry and Koscom's advancement into global financial IT business market.

Koscom also stated that it agreed with Reuters and IDC to actively share financial contents related to financial information services and pursue collaborative development and information cooperation.

Meanwhile, last April, Thomson Reuters selected Koscom as one of the most valued partners around the globe and suggested SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) program.

CEO of Koscom, Kim, Kwang Hyun stated, "Now, acquiring trustworthy information is more essential than ever before because of the globalization of world economy along with the integration of the investment information. So active cooperations with prominent institutions like S&P, Thomson Reuters, and IDC will not only upgrade the information level of Korean investors but also be a crucial stepping stone for Koscom to strengthen its stance in the financial information industry."

Standard & Poor's is a well-known global information provider specializes in credit ratings information and investment advisory services. One of the US primary indices, S&P500 is originated from S&P.

Thomson Reuters is a leading global financial information provider which was founded in 2007 when Canada's Thomson Financial merged with Britain's Reuters. In 2008, Thomson Reuters recorded annual sales of 11.7 billion dollars (approximately 15 trillion won), sales profit of 1.69 billion dollars (approximately 2.2 trillion won), and is estimated to have markets share of 34 per cent.

IDC closely follows Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg and is the world's third largest financial information provider. In 2008, IDC recorded annual sales of 0.75 million dollars (approximately 960 billion won) and sales profit of 0.22 million dollars (approximately 280 billion won).
